Bosinver farm cottages electricity meters???

After reading all the rave reviews on MN, I was just about to book a week's holiday at Bosinver farm cottages in St Austell, when i notice a statement on their website that all the cottages have electricity meters that take pound coins. Is this normal practice at these sort of sites??? Electricity has always been included in the rental price at other places we've stayed, & so i wasn't expecting to have to fork out an extra £50 or whatever ontop of the amount i was willing to pay in rent. How is there absolutely zero mention of this in any of the reviews??! Can someone reassure me its going to be worth every penny & we're not going to be sitting there in pitch black with no tv or wifi because we ran out of coins to feed the meter with?!

I would just phone them up and ask how much money people go through on an average week long holiday. Or email them.

Agree with finethanks. you need to contact them and ask to for the likely cost. i thought if they were star rated by the tourist board then they had to tell you what was included and what was extra like bed linen, towels, cots stuff etc. maybe need to check this too just in case. we usually stay at wringworthy holiday cottages near looe plus have also been to a couple of other places on the se coast of cornwall. Have looked at Bosinver but out of our budget so not stayed there. not paid for electric or wifi either. does seem a bit old fashioned.

We've stayed at Bosinver many times and yes, they do have coin meters for electricity. It does stick in my throat a tad, given we don't pay less than £1k a week for accommodation usually, but the standards are so high and we always have such a great time that we suck it up.

What cottage are you looking at? If we've stayed in the one you're considering then I'll be able to give you an idea of the electricity cost.

Which cottage are you looking at? We've stayed in Apple and Pear in (cold and rainy) early July and I think we spent approx £10 in the week. We also stayed in Valley View over Xmas and the electricity was included - no meter.

We've had three brilliant holidays at Bosinver and would totally recommend it.

Gorran & thereinmadnesslies - thanks for confirming it won't be much! We've booked to stay in Wells Close in April - looks lovely & great to hear from people who've been that its well worth it!

Well Close is an excellent choice, we've stayed in there 3 times, it's lovely. I'd say £2 a day is a fair guess.

We've stayed in Well Close in October half term and I'm pretty sure we spent around £10. The point of the charge is to encourage people to turn off lights etc. when not required, to fit in with their eco-credentials, and I can see the point of that.

We would just like to update everyone that we no longer have electricity meters at Bosinver, so electricity is included in the price. They served a purpose in that they encouraged guests to be more energy aware in line with our green ethos, but we have now removed them in response to customer feedback.
