Kent Coast - where would you go?

I'm looking for somewhere scenic and fairly quiet but with shops (individual, not shopping mall) and good transport links. Any thoughts?

Broadstairs .

I've heard mixed things about Broadstairs. Is it OK?

For living or for a holiday?

I don't live there , but they have got great shops and all the big chains as well . I personally don't like Whitstable ,its just a bit 'twee' for me and the house prices are ridiculous for what you get .

sAround Hythe and St Margarets bay are nice beaches/walks but the towns are not brilliant ( to say the least) Margate is improving , and has the turner gallery now, Whitstable is probably your best bet, Broadstairs has lovely beaches , I dont know the town aswell thougH as we normally stay on the beach!! Rye ( sussex really) is a lovely little town, but not a sandy beach.
