Where to go for a couple of days (by public transport)?

Hello all, in a month or so it's our anniversary, so we fancy going away for a couple of days. We've previously been to Edinburgh and loved it - can anyone give a suggestion for somewhere new? It doesn't really matter where in the UK it is, though the most far-flung corners are probably a bit too far.

To allow for wine with dinner we'd rather not have to drive, so somewhere accessible by public transport would be great.

I've always thought that York looks nice when I've passed through. Good train connections too.
Oxford?
I went to Colchester for a wedding and thought it looked nice too. Well, the town hall is nice anyway...

Oxford would be good, except we used to live there so already know it quite well! York did cross my mind but we have friends who live there who I'd feel bad about avoiding for a "just the two of us" holiday, if you know what I mean?

Bath. Beautiful city, and treat yourselves to a treatment at the new spa.

Cardiff also a really nice city and lots to do.
