We have 3 children aged 12, 7 and 5 and have just got back from a week at Church Farm Haven near Chichester. We stayed in a privately owned really nice van and had a good time. But I am now starting to think about next year as I think the children are getting near to the end of Haven holidays. The pool is a bit tame, as are the parks and evening entertainment is somewhat grim. We live in the New Forest and run our own business so need to be within a couple hours or so from home in case we have to go back for emergencies. I've looked up Butlins and wonder if that would be any better, I've also looked at Centreparcs but it would cost over £1600 plus any other activities for August next year. So suggestions please! We tend to spend so much time off site visiting attractions to keep the children and us amused that it costs a fortune! Many thanks.

How about the YHA they have hostels that are family friendly we had our kids 5, 3 and 2 at their Boggle Hole hostel recently and it was basic but fab and right on the beach and cheap meaning we could do all the activities they wanted to do. If you become a member I think it was about £30 for a family membership for a year it makes a big saving to the cost of a room at the hostel.

You can search for places in your area and see what you think

Thanks IWanders, that is really interesting and something I would never have considered.
