Places to stop along a1 in Northumberland

We're going on holiday on Saturday (yay!) and will be driving up from York to north Berwick so basically up the a1 through north yorks and Northumberland. Just wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere to stop along the way - ideal would be a nice farm shop cafe with a play area just near the a1....
Any suggestions?

You might like to try here. It is next to the A1 between Morpeth and Alnwick. There is a little cafe and animal park there.

If you are travelling North it is on your right. There is a big billboard advertising beef jerky at the turn off.
