Going to Derby overnight - good shops, cafes, restaurants?

Meeting my dad in Derby overnight tomorrow. No plans, just eat and mooch around.

Can anyone recommend any good (but not £££(:

Cafes
Restaurants
Yarn shops
Second hand/charity shops

Or any other must see sights of derby? We are staying at the Smart Aston hotel.
