UK holiday in November for family with small children

My DH is 40 in November and I am really stuck as to where we can go. We would love to go away for a week as have only managed a few days this year. Dcs will be 1 and 3 by then, so still quite tiny.

We have been away in October a few times but the attractions are open then so we have been able to do lots in the day with DC. I know lots of things close attractions wise after half term in October so I am a bit worried about booking a self catering place and not being able to amuse children if things are closed and the weather is rubbish.

I might be being silly though. We can't afford Centre Parcs or anything of that ilk (£800 for that week, I have checked).

Does anyone have any great ideas?

we went to Skipton in February
we wanted to be in a bit of a town, rather than the middle of nowhere, in the event of awful weather. It was great - we went swimming a fair bit in the local pool, went round the castle, farm park, had a little boat ride round the castle and back, went to museums in Leeds and York, and ate out a fair bit - there's a fab American Diner on a farm with play equipment out the front that DH still yearns for.
our cottage was quite cheap and cheerful, and about 5 minutes walk from the castle

We have hired a cottage in winter with some friends, peak district and had great time. Nice big place and shared the cost.
Could you go to CP in the week, mon-fri if the kids aren't at school, it's the weekend that pushes price up.
Also look at forest holidays, they have own jacuzzi.Smile

Thanks CharlotteBronteSaurus, that sounds great :) You have given me some hope that it will be just fine!

Thanks lisad123 too, I had not heard of Forest Holidays until you mentioned them. They look fab, I love the idea of a hot tub. You are right about CP too, I didn't realise weekends were the real problem. That does bring the cost down a little. Will have another think.

Thanks again :)

We had a fabulous week last year in Cornwall at Bosinver Cottages www.bosinver.co.uk/ - they have a range of cottages to suit all group sizes (Nov cottages to sleep 4 are about £425) and loads to do on site (feeding animals every morning, welly boot hunt, indoor soft play, outdoor play, Gruffalo trail. The cottages are really well equipped for families and there are attractions nearby.

Our kids were 18mths and 3 1/2 and loved it and still talk about it!
