Just thought I'd report back from a brilliant week spent somewhere I'd have never considered going to. We were offered a cottage in a village just outside Peterborough for a week, so thought might as well make use of it.
Did a different day trip each day:
*Nene Valley Railway (get off at Ferry meadows for a lovely park with boating, play areas, model railway)
*Sacrewell Farm - loads of animals to feed, tractor ride, indoor play area if it rains.
*Hamerton Zoo
*Beach at Hunstanton (about an hours drive)
*Burghley house - park is free with deer and loads of space to play, picnic, bike ride, can pay to go in the house and garden of Surprise (take swimming costumes!)
*Rutland Water - can walk, hire bikes, hire a boat or take a boat trip on the reservoir
Anyway, I always find it an effort to plan holidays/trips out so thought it might help others looking for things to do ...
