Flybe and unaccompanied minors

DDs dad tried to get through to them earlier to get info on arranging for her to fly alone between 2 UK airports, but spent ages on hold before having to hang up, so said Id see if I can find anything out before he calls again tomorrow.

Hes not named on her birth cert, and doesnt share her surname. What things will he need to book the flights for her - passport number etc? No way to prove that they are related other than her saying at the arrivals gate "oh, theres my dad" (shes 9) He has flown with her before but not sure uf they will be more strict when they are actually handing her over to him?

Also, where do you leave off UMs at the airport? Before security? Shes barely agreed to flying alone so I want to be able to give her an honest rundown of what will happen. (and a heap of bribes, of course)

(namechanged as this makes me highly identifiable!)

I can't answer your question, but I would suggest that you check out the Airline section on Trip Advisor. You may get some useful replies on there.

With flybe, we had to complete a form which they sent through the post which detailed who would be dropping our boys (me) and who would be collecting (grandparents). Very comprehensive info was needed and persons dropping/collecting had to bring photo ID which was checked on handover. It was very easy and very professional (and very expensive). Would happily do again.

Fantastic - thanks for the replies.

Natasha - have shown your post to DD and she says shes very relieved.

hanahsaunt - having me escort her both ways (so 6 flights instead of 2) make the UM fee seem reasonable tbh (esp as Im not paying it - he is Grin)! Not to mention the time saved!

They are ridiculously hard to get through to on the phone though.
