weekend on south coast?

im looking for a night away during july to take dcs 8 and 6, id like a nice seaside resort, fish and chips , a few fairground rides maybe or minigolf etc, nice beach and ice cream. something to do if it rains, so a cinema and a few shops would be good, where? my thoughts so far are brighton, eastbourne, margate, hastings? which would you suggest and are there any others ive missed,?

Highly recommend two places- Broadstairs for somewhere smaller and pretty, with clean sandy beach too. Minigolf, old fashioned fair on beach, great old timers ice cream parlour (not trendy just old school with yum ice cream), gorgeous tiny cinema. Also whistable for top class best of south coast seaside fishing town. No arcades mini golf or any of that though but lovely shops, watersports, gorgeous beach you can bbq on. Does have swimming pool, skatepark and bowling. Canterbury nearby with lots to offer, howlets safari park, wildwood etc.
