We (dh and two ds) are going to London in the summer for a long weekend. Can anyone suggest somewhere to stay? Ds are 16 and 11. Thanks

Bayswater/Hyde Park. Stacks of hotels and central with good public transport links. Where do you want to visit?

you might get more for your money if you stay slightly further out. We stayed in the Novotel in Greenwich when we were down for a long weekend a couple of years ago. Ds's loved it as we could get the Thameslink ferry hopper into London - goes from Greenwich to where the London Eye is and is very quick - you can also get off at Tower Bridge so you get to see all the sights as part of your travelling.

The hotel's also right next to the DLR so very easy to get in to London.

We paid for the hotel using Tesco vouchers, and it was child-friendly, great food, rooms etc.

Bear in mind that because of the Olympics, every hotel in London seems to be full or has ramped up its prices this summer. I tried various Travelodge/Premier Inn places, and couldn't find much under £600 for a 3-night stay for me & 2 DCs in one room.

You may need to look further out, though also bear in mind that transport into central London is expected to be a nightmare during the Olympics...
