Only ever passed through the edge on the way up M74

A friend of a friend has a cottage Moffat and I am considering going with the DCs half term week.

I don't think scottish schools are off then so should be quiet.

DCs are 9 11 and 5

Um. What would you like to know?

There's a chocolate factory in Dumfries and some farm parks near by and theres a museum think of rural life. Off course Moffat has a toffee shop too.

There's loads to do, especially in that part of the county.
Grey mare's tail
St Mary's Loch
Selkirks not too far away either
Dumfries
Mabie Farm is about an hour away, it's great

This is a great day out - and brilliant ice cream too! www.creamogalloway.co.uk/visit-us

the beaches at on the coast are lovely - shell beaches at Kippford and Rockcliffe and sandy at Sandy hills. we love it round there the climate always feels milder too. Mabie Park farm good on a nice day has lots of outdoor things and theres another place near Dumfries that has an indoor soft play and outdoor things including lots of ride on stuff( I think its called dalscombe) For adults castle douglas and Kircudbrie(sic) lovely for independent shop, galleries and cafes

Second the recommendation for Cream o Galloway - we've been several times and the DCs love it. Best on a dry day, though. Mabie also good, and has a few more indoor things. We also like Caerlaverock Castle, near Dumfries.
