I only go to Whinfell cos the car journey is easier for us but they're all over 3.5 hours from us. Been to Whinfell 10 times & the kids know the place well & I don't want to try the others cos at the end of the day its the same concept.

I have only been to Sherwood pines but personally I would go to whichever is nearest

noyouhavehadawee · 25/02/2012 19:28

liked longleat but it was very hilly though great for cycling down at speed, sherwood i prefer for summer and whinfell for winter as more undercover. There is a pirate ship area for tinies at sherwood which has very suspicious wee warm water Grin

longleat is sooooooo hilly wow i lost all my puff on that one and i was a kid when i went and full of energy or chocolate bars we often go to Eleveden Love it there. We go as a big group of adults, with no kids though. Grin

We have been to Sherwood and Elvedon. We prefer Sherwood.

We've been to Longleat and Elveden. Longleat is v.hilly but I prefer it - feels more spacious, Elveden is flat so good for buggies etc but somehow it feels more like a holiday camp to me. Have been to Elveden more often only because it is the nearest to us (SE england)

SunshineOnARainyDay · 26/02/2012 07:59

We go to Whinfell but only because it's only an hour away from us. Had heard that Longleat is very hilly though which the little ones can't always manage on their bikes.

Longleat is my favourite because it feel more "deep in the forest"!

We did avoid it though when little legs wouldn't have coped with the hills, that's when we went to Sherwood and Elveden.

But it's Longleat every time now.

Late coming to this thread but I have been to Whinfell, Sherwood and Elevdon.

Whinfell originally owned by Rank and was bought out by Center Parcs, so accommodation much more showy and roomy, all original Center Parcs try to blend their villas in to the forest. Whinfell can be quite hilly it depends where you are.

Elevdon is best for us, it was gutted by fire in the 90's and was rebuilt after they consulted guests as to what they wanted it to be.

We are much closer to Sherwood but drive past it to get to Elevdon. Everything is in the centre, unlike all the others where the sports plaza and swimming pool and supermarket are all spread out.

We have been to CP about 12 times the majority of which is at Elvedon. We choose villas on a certain stretch of road so we can walk into the centre very quickly, no bikes required. Our children love it (they are 9 and 6) but it is very expensive now, we tend to try to do a long weekend with one day being an inset day.

Yes. Belgium and Holland. It's lovely being surrounded by people speaking a different language. Makes the experience that much more enjoyable.

workshy · 03/03/2012 16:02

I've been to whinfell and sherwood

when the DCs were younger I think the pool at sherwood was better and I prefer that the village centre is open

whinfell feels more like everyone is on top of each other but I prefer the restaurants there

DCs prefered the Time Out club at Sherwood too

Longleat and Holland. Going back to Longleat in June...wont be going again as a family as the kids dont really want to go this time. Mind mine are 26 and 17! Hope to go again with friends as I went in 2009 with 8 girls in the fab 8 berth villas with all the mod cons...can`t afford those ones as a family!
