Weekend in London on a budget with a (nearly) 2 year old

Hello!

My friend from Germany is coming to London to stay with me for a weekend with her nearly 2 year old son. Depending in the date he might be even 2 then, if that matters. I know London quite well, but what would be interesting for somebody who has never been to London? My friend is on a tight budget so it shouldn't cost much.

Thanks in advance, Born

Walk along the South Bank, go to Tate Modern or the National Gallery, get the spotty catamaran up the Thames, wander round Covent Garden. Go on the London Eye if your budget will stand it.
Ask her what she specially fancies, but don't make the mistake of making it All About The Toddler - the toddler will not remember it and will be perfectly happy waving at red buses and eating the occasional ice cream - if necessary there's a playground next to the London Eye, and the whole of the South Bank is toddling friendly because no cars.

Open top bus tour if you can and go to some of the free museums like nat history that has lots of hands on things to do and things to look at as well. bit far out but the toy museum is good. agree that covent garden is great especially with street entertainers. my kids just love wandering around and the occasional treat so hopefully will your friends!
