Travelodges/Hotels in edinburgh???

Going to edinburgh in the summer and dont want to spend a fortune on accomodation as train fares are expensive and wont be spending alot of time in there. Want a hotel if possible central edinburgh location so looking at travelodges but not sure which one??

If anyone has stayed in any of the central ones and has a view to help me out or know of any good places to stay in the centre please???

Travel Lodges and Premier Inns are all much of a muchness; they're generally clean, warm, and functional, but there are no frills like room service and so on. Might also be worth having a look at backpacker hostels, the Castle Rock is lovely!

But book asap, Edinburgh is very, very busy in the summer, especially once the Festivals start.

We also have a flat available for let. It has 2 bedrooms and is very attractive and comfortable. It sleeps 6 people. 5 mins walk from waverley station and just off the royal mile. It has a cot and a highchair.

It is much cheaper to rent a holiday let than stay in a hotel. There's also the added benefit of being able to prepare food in your own kitchen rather than eat out 3
times a day. Much easier with kids in tow.

I have stayed at the Express by Holiday Inn opposite the Playhouse Theatre. If you are staying in a family room it would be quite economcal. Very central and 5 mins from railway station.

I would also recommend looking at Band Bs. Corstorphine (near the zoo) has loads and is 10 mins max into town on the bus.

Would also agree that apartments with kids are the way forward.

Right in the centre, about £35 per night, beautiful rooms, fab breakfast.

The only problem is that it is about three or four flights of stairs up, so no good if you have mobility problems.

We stayed at the Travelodge just off royal mile. Never again will I go in a Travelodge. I swear awful. There was footprints on the wall, needed extra blankets and got the third degree as to why, but it was dirty, would have prefered a nice b&b tbh or spend the little

There is an easyhotel on princes street.

Just read this thread and called the CastleView GH but for our family it would be £139 per night (in a family room). There are 2 adults, 3 young children and a baby. Thought £35 sounded like a miracle! Duck94 and Mandy T68 have just checked your out and they look perfect but booked for when we need it. Another time perhaps! Would you ever consider a reciprocal swap - we have 3 holiday cottages on the North Norfolk coast (www.barnhouseholidays.com)?!
