Anywhere in Southern England (apart from Cornwall as to far), just one night with a 4yo and a 1yo.

Suggestions gratefully received Smile

I'd go to somewhere in Sussex, perhaps Arundel or maybe Dorset, a bit further but so lovely.

If there will be two adults, and in term time, Windsor and Legoland. Not sure when the new hotel opens, or stay in Windsor itself.

Monkeyworld/Tank Museum/Swanage, Dorset

Central London for natural history museum etc

I would pick Sussex and if I didn't live nearby I'd pick Lewes. It's charming if a bit twee, and a good base for various things. Has a castle, child friendly restaurants, various things for kids nearby.

Rye? I was thinking Windsor too.

We had a great family party at the Bluebell in Cocking slap bang in the middle of the South Downs. They have an amazing chef who loves kids, who made our rabble 'fish fingers' one night - actually fish tempura with posh chips. They have nice rooms above the pub, and gave us a table at the bottom of the stairs so we could keep an ear open for escapees, of which there were many. The best thing was the owners who went out of their way to be welcoming and accomodating. They sat down and did colouring with them and even let a 5 year old into the kitchen to watch the chef cheffing.

For small person activities, there's hills to run about on, West Dean gardens and Singleton open air museum within a mile or so.

I promise I am have nothing to do with the pub except being a very satisfied customer!
