Things to do in Sheffield on a (child-free) weekend?

We are escaping to Sheffield next weekend for a night away. Neither dh or me have spent any time there apart from a few student escapades drinking Roger and Out, so does anyone have any suggestions for nice restaurants or bars? Maybe a bit of culture or a comedy club? Something to do in the afternoon and Sunday lunch? Bit vague, I know but open to suggestions... Smile

The comedy club at the city hall is good, lots of good places to eat, what food are you in to?

starlingsintheslipstream · 18/11/2011 23:18

I love the sound of the cinema but it would be good to talk and then realise we have nothing to sayas we don't get out together very often! Will look up the restaurant though, thanks.

Katz, do you think we need to book ahead for the city hall comedy club?

As for food, anything really. I'm veggie, but easily pleased otherwise.

Comey club I think you do.

Will have a think on the food front, is your hotel in the city centre?

5 weirs walk?

Potter round Milennium galleries if wet, and have a coffee (and maybe a panini) from Zoobys in the winter garden (attached to Milennium galleries)

Don't know if this might help Sheffield Guide

It gives a general overview of what is available

Thanks everyone so far. Will definitely have a wander round the Milennium Galleries.

Sheffiled Guide very helpful, treas.

katz, we are staying at the Mercure on Norfolk Street.

Wasabi sabi on London Road is very good if you like Japanese. Cocktails at Abuello's (spelling) on Eccleshall Road also very good on an evening. Baan Thai is good as is Artisan. In the daytime Thyme Cafe in Broomhill is quite nice.
