Weather in Lake District/Cumbria in Feb???

We want to book a big house for a family get together for my dad's bday in feb. Have decided on the Lake District as it's the same distance for us all to drive. But does anyone live there and have any experience of the likely weather in Feb???? Is it worse than the rest of the country, as it's higher up?? We're thinking about properties by Bassenthwaite water, near Keswick, and Santon Bridge near Kendal. Thanks!

I grew up in the area, I'd say more rain than most areas (guess that's where the lakes come from), but still a wonderful place to visit. Pack wellies and waterproofs though!

Very wet and very foggy when i went in Feb. maybe i was unlucky but we gave up half through feb half term. go south in the UK - cornwall - to avoid this.

rainy

damp

not colder

that about sums it up

it doesn't detract from the beauty and presence of the place though...don't let it stop you if you pack wellies and waterproofs

Thanks - don't mind rain; it's ice and snow I'm worried about! Have booked house at Santon Bridge which looks fab - thanks :)

have a lovely time

there is no more ice/snow than anywhere else, unless you are at the top of a mountain Smile
