dd1 is doing an extended project at school. She is interested in the history of fashion in the 20th century and I promised her I would take her to London to go to the V&A. We are going in a couple of weeks and I've just gone online and the unspeakable V&A appears to have shut it's fashion gallery. Huge WTF moment from me but I will not be defeated!

So where's good to go? I need 20th century for her to look at and sketch. I would like to do some touristy shopping stuff as well so don't want to be trekking to the back of beyond and it needs to be somewhere open on a Saturday.

i see the museum of london has a fashion section - any good?

HELP ME!!!

Grin

Well the website says room 40 is closed and I can't find out anymore than that. Have e-mailed to clarify. The fashio illustration bit looks good from the festival but I'm leaving dd2 and dd3 with dh and he has a commitment next weekend that he can't get out of to mind them....

Ok plan b - dh rearranging commitment and I have book dd1 on fashion illustration talk. Then Kensington Palace and then maybe Museum of London too if necessary.....

Ok well dd and I have been on exhausting culture hunt today Grin I am very cross with the V&A - rang to ask as well and was told some clothes from 20th century were on display - turned out practically nothing but there is a lovely Dior New Look costume in the theatre section which dd drew. She found the seminar interesting though. Then we went to the Enchanted Palce thing - HIGHLY recommend this - really intriguing and had more stuff to draw. Then on to to the Central Line and over to the Museum of London which had a couple of things too. So all in all pretty good. I am EXHAUSTED though Grin
