Short break near/easily accesible from London

Hey all,

I have a few days off this week, so my partner and I are going to take a short break. We are leaving on Friday morning, coming back on Sunday. We live in London and don't have a car, so it would need to be somewhere with decent public transport (not like the time we ended up taking 4 hours to get to Surrey...)

Would ideally be about 2 hours travel or less, in the countryside/by the sea/small village and as cheap as possible, maybe about £40 - £65 a night.

Any suggestions?

Get on a train to the Cotswolds? Paddington to Charlbury/ Moreton in Marsh would be around the 2h mark. B and Bs galore.

If you can stretch to brighton or bath they are good for a weekend away.
