Does anyone know Lathkill Dale in the Peak District?

If you do I have a question - are there many stiles? If so do they have dog gate type things?

We'd like to go at the weekend but have a big dog that can't do stiles and is too big to lift.

Viva, this probably isn't too helpful as I last walked Lathkill Dale about 12 years ago.......!

But I don't remember a lot of stiles - it's a nice easy, gentle walk iirc. Given its' popularity I would have thought that most of the gates along the river (if the river still exists - was almost dry the last time I walked it) would be proper gates rather than stiles.

Brilliant, thanks - will give it a go then.

Where were you planning on starting from? We used to start at Youlegreave and the walk down to the actual dale is quite steep but perfectly do-able :)

In fact, every "exit" to the villages on the route (Over Haddon, Monyash) will be a bit of a climb but these were the first walks I did as a very unfit 17 year old so you will be fine :)

Hankering after a good Derbyshire walk with a pub lunch..... enjoy!

Love Lathkill Dale - we go there quite often and in fact went last time at the Easter weekend. Our favourite walk is from Monyash, across the fields to One Ash Grange Farm then down Cales dale in to Lathkill Dale and back down the dale to Monyash.

I don't think there are many stiles - none in the dale itself that I can remember.

We're back, it was lovely. Like Dove Dale but without the crowds. Infact nicer than Dove Dale. No stiles either so that was good. Grin
