what is rottingdean like?

thinking of going there for 4 days in June, as we wanted to go to brighton but is v expensive, so thought we could go to brighton for a couple of day trips.

is rottingdean nice? Is the beach ok? Are there shops etc??

I've a v good friend in Brighton and have been to Rottingdean with her a couple of times

Pretty village (but v busy). Right by the beach, can do nice undercliff walk, get fish n chips etc. A few decent pubs

We had a LOVELY Thai meal there - can't remember the name, sorry - but it was close to the actual beach, opposite a big (white?) pub. Highly recommend!

Easy bus route straight to Brighton

Lots of old people and lots of traffic, IIRC

The big white pub is called the white horse, I owrked there about 20 yrs ago! See I'm very old!

TBH Rottingdean is fringe of Brighton, buses run till 11ish and you can do pretty much what you would have anyway, then retire to a quieter place to stay.
