Malvern/Herefordshire luxury weekend

DH and I are looking to go away for a long weekend in early June. I don't know the Malvern Hills area, but have heard it's pretty. We like places like the Cotswolds and Devon, ie nice walking country.

No limit on the budget, we like v nice hotels and good food.

Pref. in the country.

Any ideas much appreciated.

I am from near Malvern and grew up in Herefordshire. Malvern is gorgeous and would be best suited for your walking / hotels / good food needs as the town itself is pretty big. My DSis had her wedding breakfast at The Cottage in the Wood last year and was lovely - gorgeous setting and food.

There are a lot of self-catering places as well but they tend to be in the middle of nowhere and there is NO public transport and barely any taxis so you would need to drive. Acton Beauchamp (a little village on Heref/Worc border near Malvern) has some lovely self-catering barn conversions if I recall correctly.

Sorry - I missed the 'luxury' part - you're obviously not wanting to make your own breakfast. Grin To be honest luxury hotels aren't ten a penny in those thar parts.

Try the Elms in Worcester - its a short drive from the malvern hills and is lovely

Not luxury in the slightest but if you like walking, the cafe at Saint Anne's Wells does lovely homemade soup and cheese or hoummus baguettes!

The Cottage in the Woods looks rather lovely.

I'd highly recommend staying at the Cottage in the Wood hotel. It has always had a very good reputation and I believe it is still family run. There is at least one four poster bedroom. The Malvern Hills are lovely but I am biaised. I was born in in Malvern.
