We are staying in central London for a week towards the end of July this summer and we were hoping to travel to the coast for a week after that we have two kids dd(11) and ds (9). We would have to hire a car and are not sure if Brighton would be the closest beach type place to go we did always fancy cornwall but it looks like it could be quite a drive any recommendations would be appreciated. Not too sure where we be best for things to do with the kids we would be going self catering. Thanks in advance

Camber Sands in Sussex is a really beautiful beach which isn't spoilt by endless amusements. There's more stuff to do in Hastings - smugglers caves, aquarium, mini golf. And a great day out is Knockhatch which isn't too far away (less than an hour from Hastings)

Also all within reach of Brighton so that whole area is great IMO
