Recommendation for hotel in or near Altrincham please

We are going to visit some friends who live in Altrincham. We usually stay with them (we being DH, DCs and me) but as they have a new born in their brood I think it will be better for them if we stay in a hotel. I know if I ask them for recommendations they will try and dissuade us as they are fantastic hosts hence my asking here instead.

I don't think Altrincham is that large but in case there are numerous hotels to choose from, our friends postcode is WA14.

Cottons Hotel and Spa - Knutsford, 15 mins from Altrincham, 10 mins from M6 - very nice, my local, spa fab too if you get the chance!
