W/e away with toddler & newborn near a beach

Hi

Has anyone got any recommendations for a weekend away, near a beach? There'll be me and my DH, my DD (3 yrs) and a newborn baby. Somewhere up north would be best as we live in North Yorkshire, so too far to drive south to cornwall etc. We don't want to spend too much as we'll have our annual overseas holiday as well. It's basically somewhere to go so my little ones can play on the beach for a couple of days.

Any ideas really appreciated as I don't know where to start.

ALso would you do B&B, caravan or cottage?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

with a newborn you want to make sure you're comfortable and can relax - so worrying about keeping others awake with night-time crying would rule out a B&B if you are anything like me lol!

Caravan is obviously the cheaper option, however if you get rubbish weather then you have to think about damp/cold with a newborn.

Cottage is perfect - home from home but usually expensive.

Recommendations:

North Wales - Prestatyn - depends on how snobby you are Wink....if you want cheap, cheerful and a big beach then this is the place for you. You've also got Rhyl just up the road.

Blackpool, Morecambe - it doesn't have to be fruit-machines and tack, both places are great for entertaining youngsters with lots of ammenities to hand and of course, Blackpool has a brilliant beach.

What about closer to home - Scarborough or Whitby? I've not been but they are all family orientated resorts aren't they?

There is also the Wirral peninsular (opposite Liverpool) Wirral Country park is particularly nice with a camping/caravan site. This is for nature-loving families though, lots to do if you like outdoors pursuits and a gorgeous sandy beach.

HTH
