Can you recommend a cottage near Newquay?

Hi,

I am looking for a 3 bedroom cottage vaguely near Newquay (within 15 miles or so...) in May or June.

Have looked at the big websites (Classic cottages, Cottages4You, Helpful Holidays etc) and can't find anything available in our budget - ideally not much more than £400 for the week.

So was wondering if anyone had been to an independently-let cottage that they can recommend?

(PS. if relevant - we are 2 adults, a 3 year old and a baby. No pets, non-smoking)

I think you may have a problem with your budget, but you could try Independent Cottages or Holiday Rentals, where you can rent directly from the owner, so avoiding the bump up that agents charge. Are you interested in Watergate Bay or further away - Padstow etc? I have a couple of contacts if you are interested.

Watergate would be good, Padstow would be ok too.

Sorry I didn't come back sooner, but this place - ivycottagecornwall.co.uk - is lovely. I've stayed there a couple of times with my DC and their extended group of friends for surfing weeks. It might be too big for you, but you could try negotiating on price for lower occupancy if they are available.

Otherwise, I've a pal who has a 3 bedroomed holiday house in Padstow (which would probably fit your budget) and also a couple of other friends with cottages in Mawgan and Constantine (which may be outside of your budget).
