Weekend away somewhere on first great western line

I have free train tickets to go anywhere on the First Great western network, we want to go somewhere west of Reading, it will be our first weekend away without DD. We won't have the car, just a relaxing sat afternoon shopping and cocktails, nice dinner and undisturbed lie in on the Sunday. Has anyone got any recommendations for towns/ hotels? We've been to Bristol and Bath a few times, so maybe somewhere else

If it were me I'd go to Bath everytime.

You could try Oxford or Cheltenham, both served by First Great Western or for somewhere smaller how about Moreton in the Marsh or Kingham

Great Malvern would be nice if you enjoy walking. Cottage in the wood is lovely hotel but you would need to get a taxi to it (slightly out of malvern).

Otherwise cheltenham, Exeter, Truro

If shopping is a main aim, then maybe not Oxford - people who like shopping tell me it's a shite place for it. Cheltenham I think would be better.
