Would you sneak a 5 year old into London Hotel

Hi

We are going to London next month and having looked at rates and availability of family rooms, we would have much more choice and it would be much cheaper to book a double room instead of a family room. It is only for 1 night and have no problems with our 5 year old sleeping with us. It just seems ridiculous to pay extortionate amounts when we will only be using the room between maybe 10pm and 9am the next day. If we booked into a large hotel would anyone really notice? Would appreciate your comments.

Don't know honestly. I am a bit of a wimp and would be scared incase I got caught. Sometimes looking for a room that sleeps 3 as opposed to a family room is cheaper.

Mind you I suppose if one of you checked and you made sure you weren't seen entering/leaving together it might work.

Well I'm a bit of a wimp too and would worry about being caught but we are going with my mum and dad so sneaking him in would probably be fairly easy. I've stayed before at the hotel I am thinking of and I think whole bus loads of people could sneak in and they wouldn't notice!!

I'd do it and feign ignorance if they 'catch' you - simply say you booked a double as it's all you need, you co-sleep at home so didn't see the need to book a bed for him?!

Lol - I think you have already made up your mind - go for it! Grin

ChippingIn brill idea. Think I'm going to do it and be a rebel - I'm usually too honest for my own good - I bet people sneek extra adults in all the time and never think twice about it!!! He He!!

I suppose the only problem would be if there was a fire during the night (god forbid!), they wouldn't have the child on their list of guests so wouldn't know to look for him. Sorry probably a bit morbid but I wouldn't risk it personally.

Why not just phone anonymously and ask about having an extra bed put in the room? We have had done this with no problem lots of time (also had an extra room tagged on for half price when we approached a hotel direct). We have also been allowed 5 of us in a room with 2 double beds before. If you don't ask you won't get.

Most hotels usually let up to 2 children under the age of 12 stay in a double room- usually have a sofa bed or little camp bed for the children - you just have to pay for their breakfast if you are having that. Just call and ask.
