We have been to Weymouth for the past three years and love it but am bored of the place now.

Would love to go abroad but hubby is against it and we are on a very tight budget.

Am looking for a nice clean holiday home, self catering for 2 adults 2 children.

Near to a beach with parking.

Wondering if Poole is any good?

Please help!

We normally go to Portsmouth but always drive to Poole just to go to Splashdown and TGI Fridays, thats all i know about Poole but if you go, Splashdown is great fun.

We went to Sandbanks beach near Poole in the summer - it was great! There were good facilities at the site, but the car park was a bit expensive (but then it is Sandbanks dahling!). If you get the ferry across the sound to Studland, you can go to Studland Bay which is stunning, absolute lovely and not as windy as Sandbanks, esp if you sit up near the dunes. Both beaches are fab for kids, and the sea is gently shelving so is great for swimming. I don't "do" outdoor swimming and you honestly couldn't get me out of the water! There's a small National Trust car park at Studland, which again isn't cheap (and fills up early), but most cars are parked on the side of the road and this didn't result in a parking ticket, just a longer walk to the beach!

It's a lovely area, we are hoping to return this year and try out more of the beaches - like Alum Chine, Durley Chine, Swanage. We visited Swanage in the evening after Studland Bay and had the best fish n chips ever at the harbour!

I have family near there so have been a few times. Lovely beach at Sandbanks and walked along Poole harbour which is OK. It's very near Bournemouth too.

I live in Poole ...great beaches...Poole Quay with great amusements and places to eat....Brownsea Island.....Lighthouse Centre for the arts......Poole Park with lakes/golf/ice skating/train/play parks and ducks.
So much more and so much more on door step.
