Travelling by Train (for 4.5 hours)

Wondering about taking the train to London from Scotland instead of the plane.

DD is just 3. I reckon we'll be able to keep her pretty well entertained but I don't think she'll be able to reach the table to do colouring etc which is a BIG problem over 4.5 hours.

Can you take booster seats on trains or car seats or something so that she isn't wobbling about all the time and so that she can reach the table to do activities?

Has anyone tried this? What other ideas do you have to help little ones reach the table without standing on the seat?

I took my DS (3.5) from Leicester to Bognor by train, He was able to reach the table ok, but is a bit older so prob bit taller.
If you didn't mind your DD kneeling, she'd definately reach.

A booster seat sounds a good idea but maybe one like this one- not too bulky to cart around

Actually, just thought, sitting on a booster seat would maybe make your DD too far away from the table, as it would need to be pushed to the back of seat.
Maybe just a small cushion?

I have just taken my three(6,3,18 months) Scotland to london and back.

Don't worry about the table thing just get her to kneel up on the seat.

Take loads of stuff to do and loads of snacks. You might also want to take some gin.

book a table seat, take lots of dvds and headphones for laptop and a picnic full of tasty snacks. the problem with pencils/ games etc is they constantly drop on the floor and roll away and heads get bumped, tears and chaos ensues. sticker books are better.
only one 3 year old for 4'5hrs will be fun!
