We were thinking of taking advantage of the cheap Travelodge rooms over the next few months but are lacking in inspiration of where to go. So.... any suggestions for a 2 day stay, in the UK, in the Winter??!! LOs are almost 2 and 4 and we live in Cheshire so 2 to 3 hours drive would be fine. Don't mind whether its city or countryside as long as its a place the kids would get a lot out of. Lake District is out as we go there a lot with family.

Thanks all.

What about York? Its a lovely place & there's 2 travelodges there. Is it too far?

Winter in UK with LO, would go for a city. York is great (esp if you have train mad DC), Cardiff (Museum, castle, boat trips if weather OK; St Fagan's museum of Welsh life is great)
Oxford (Museums, river, lots of child-friendly cafes;)
