Half term in Caernarfon, local info please

We're in Caernarfon for half term, dh, ds (9) and dd (6). We are taking bikes and body boards and wetsuits so if anyone can recommend cycle paths, best beaches for body boarding and days out ie best castles, walks etc I'd be really grateful.

Is the Greenwood Forest Park worth a visit?

Greenwood is fantastic! We love it. DEff go there.

Lots of great castles. Caernarfon is coolio so go to that one if no other. Conwy is a lovely place, great toy shop, great deli and has a top castle too. Beaumaris and Harlech castles I would also recommend.

My brother-in-law has been surfing at Harlech and has said it's a good beach for that sort of thing but I have no personal knowledge of that.

There is also a good small castle at Criccieth - worth a visit - but what makes it better is that you can then have a fantastic ice cream sundae at Cadwaladrs ice cream parlour which has lovely views out over the sea. Or buy a bag of chips at the chippie and sit on the beach to eat them.

In Llandudno you can get a short tram ride up to the top of the Great Orme (a hill) and there is a good playpark at the top.

We have been there lots and there is so m uch we still haven't done.

Thanks pinty. We had a fab time. I left it very last minute with my thread but did pick up your post on my mobile. We went to Greenwood and agree with you it was brilliant. Didn't make it to Conwy or Harlech but plan to go to the area again next year so may go there then. Had a brief stop in Criccieth and had an ice cream at Cadwalladrs.
