I Can I make a train seat reservation for my 4 year old?

Under 5s are free to travel, but I don't want to not have a seat on the train for my 4 year old. (travelling with a 7 year old too).

DH thinks I should be able to get a free seat reservation, but I don't think I can. Does anyone know?

Yes, but you'll have to pay a half-fare ticket. Children who travel free are not entitled to a seat if the train is full.

If you pay for a seat for him then you ca also reserve him a seat (this latter is normally free.)

Children under 5 who haven't paid are not entitled to a seat; they are expected to share yours.

Is it worth looking at a family railcard and buying seats for both children using that?

thanks, just what I thought. It was an £18 sainsburys special, so a bargain :-)
