Arggghhhh - Regional Tourist Boards

For the DH & DS - i'm trying to plan a short 4-day break in the UK..

As i'm deliberately avoiding Center Parcs & the like - in favour of a 'real' British holiday experience - I've been researching the regional tourist website - but struggling big time!

Any advice on using the tourist boards website? or suggest any alternative (apart from 'googling' around - as i've done that!)

what about www.simonseeks.com? There are loads of guides/suggestions on there.

The visit cornwall website is a good one to navigate around. Also lastminutecottages - we use them when we are going on a spur of the moment time away but they are also a good listing point. If you know where you want to go in the country why not telephone the tourist information centre nearest to it or go into one in your town. Surfing the net does give you too much choice - I agree!

I gnerally Google for [name of place] and tourist information - and then look for an official site such as the local authority. I don't find the tourist board websites much use as they tend to be far too general and cover a vast area.
