Can anyone recommend a good self catering place to stay?

DD's are 10 and 12. I want to do body boarding at the Beach (if you can recommend a good beach too) Grin, see the castles and the Roman ruins.

We prefer self catering, but not too basic. Near a nice beach would be lovely. Don't mind a static, as long as it is good quality, and the site is nice.

Thanks

Its about 6 miles from lovely beaches, lots to do in the area.
V.clean and comfortable cottage.
We stayed last 1/2 term and are contemplating again but would really like somewhere within walking distance to the beach

Thanks to you both.

We stayed in Bamburgh and it was a lovely village. A few minutes walk to the beach, there are different beaches nearby, the castle is very scenic. The village itself has several nice hotels to eat in but not many shops.
Three miles away is Seahouses, I would avoid staying here if you can as it is a bit like Blackpool - full of touristy tat shops and fish/chip shops although it has the nearest supermarket to Bamburgh.
Alnwick is not on the coast and is considerably bigger, we visited it, has the castle, gardens, shops etc.

We stayed in a Coastal Retreats cottage in Beadnell. It was small but lovely, and 2 mins walk from the beach.

Apologies for no link - am on phone.

Thanks for the tips.

Decena, where did you stay? Would you recommend it?
