Have been to Crieff but want to know if Peebles is worse, better or much the same.

My mother went to both as a child and prefers Crieff. They may have changed since the 1950s?

Fimbo · 17/09/2010 14:04

Lol - thanks fridayschild. The Crieff website just looks slicker somehow but Peebles is just over £100 more. Arrggh decisions decisons.

Oh don't go to Peebles hydro, it is awful and indeed has not changed since the 1950s if the decor and "ambience" is anything to go by. On the other hand my friend is just back from Crieff Hydro and had a great time - their 3yr old went as well and had a ball.

We went to Peebles hydo with our one year old and had a great time.Hotel does look a bit like the one in The Shining!

Fimbo · 19/09/2010 11:42

Peebles is £100 less I should have said not more. Thanks all, the decision has been made - Crieff! Grin

Fimbo I seen your earlier thread about Crieff where you asked about a discount. Did you managed to find one?

I've been twice now, a few years back and last summer time with DD who was three and we all loved it. We've paid £500 for two nights but figure that since it includes half-board it's not too bad (and free childcare if you want to use it). And the facilities are great and it's in a beautiful part of the world.

They've also refurbished a lot of the rooms so the standard is quite high. Really looking forward to going back.

Sorry that should read we have paid £500 for two nights in the October holidays.

Fimbo · 19/09/2010 17:52

Hi Ulysses.

the opposition had a discount code - MUMS, but sadly no longer works or at least not for October. After long drawn out conversations with dh we are going for the interconnecting room on half board. We could have gone for the 3* lodge option for about £370 but by the time you add the cost of the food on and lets face it you are going to eat at the Hydro then it would work out much about the same plus the children get the lunch voucher too.

We've booked that too! Can I be nosy and ask when you're going in case we're next to each other or something? We're away the 16th to 19th.

Fimbo · 20/09/2010 22:36

Damn missed you by a week! I could have put a Fimbo on our door - lol Grin

Ulysses - have booked today. Phoned up to see if it would be cheaper having stayed there before but it was £11 per night dearer through their sales office than the internet!
