Any recommendations? I am driving myself potty looking at websites. Feel we have done Harrogate to death but otherwise very suggestible and easily lead! Oh a spa would be nice too.

Friends were recommending The Fallen Angel recently

That looks intriguing Purpleturtle, thank you! Have just realised the time so will have to have a proper look later.

How far north? We went to The Drunken Duck in the lakes recently for a couple of nights. It was absolutely perfect, we were in one of the basic rooms, small, no shower, but still really lovely. The food in the restaurant is amazing too. No spa, but guests get a discount at Langdale Spa which is about 10mins drive away.

Fab recommendations thank you both! Knew Mnet would not let me down.

Seaham Hall. No doubt.

Malmaison, Grey Street Hotel or Hotel Du Vin, all in Newcastle.

Drunken Duck, Sharrowbay or Aprodite lodges in the Lakes

Can recommend some nice in Glasgow/Edinburgh if not to far north?

juneybean · 29/07/2010 20:51

Was just coming to suggest Seaham Hall also :D

Aphrodite Lodges looks bonkers! In a good way . Which room did you stay in?! I would love to stay at Seaham Hall but the budget is not going to stretch to that but it is definitely on my wish list. Newcastle could be good for a break and something different. Thanks again, I love browsing and getting new ideas and hadn't come across any of these apart from Seaham before.

P.S. thanks but Scotland is a bit too far this time.

Newcastle is really lovely for a romantic break - lovely walks along the quayside, baltic art gallery, sage music, cocktails at pitcher n piano

York - what about www.marmadukes-hotel.co.uk/

or middlethorpe hall (the spa is beautiful...!)

Have also heard good things about the fallen angel.
