Seeking a home tutor for GCSE subjects and dyslexia support

Looking for a home tutor for our 14 year old son GCSE Maths, English and Science. He is slightly dyslexic and needs to gain confidence in exams and retaining what he is learning. We live in Biggin Hill, Bromley.

HI @EllieDC !

Just face to face 'home' tuition or online as well?

You’re either dyslexic or not, not slightly dyslexic. My twins are dyslexic and a tutor has really helped. Have you spoken to the school?

I am an experienced person for the subjects you are asking for and also know how to deal dyslexia people and help them in gaining confidence. Feel free to send me a private message if you would like more detail.

The confidence piece is so important, especially with dyslexia where kids can feel like everything is harder for them than everyone else. Our DS is 15 and while he's not dyslexic, he had a real confidence crisis with maths that made the actual learning almost impossible , he'd shut down before he'd even tried. What helped alongside the human support was finding ways to make practice feel like a game rather than more school. Anything with points, progress tracking, short challenges , it took the fear out of getting things wrong because it just felt like playing. A good tutor plus something that builds confidence between sessions could be a really powerful combination. Hope you find someone brilliant.
