Reaching out to my old tutor

Not sure if this is the correct group to post. After university, I was a trainee at a firm and every trainee before professionally qualified, needs to do one year training and has a supervisor/ tutor to sign off work.

I was luck to have a good tutor. I didn’t like him at the start but he ended up being a good tutor who made a real positive impact on me and shaped the professional I am now.

every now and again I think about how grateful I am to have a good tutor and how lucky I turned out.

after I finished my training, occasionally i would text him and ask about life stuff eg insurance, mortgage and he’s be happy to help. In cases where he can’t help, he would just say can’t help. He replied but obviously knowing I’m a ‘younger girl’ (22 years old) he replied short and simple texts that are professional.

it’s a professional relationship we have. I recently finished a further certificate in my professional career and thought of him.

I reached out today with a friendly text asking how he is, how his wife and kids are and said I still carry everything he taught me in my current (‘more specialist role). I am keen to now network with him on a professional capacity with previous tutor-student relationship in mind. I asked to catch up over coffee with no pressure vibe.

he has seen the text but didn’t reply. I’m second guessing myself if I maybe shouldn’t have texted. Feel like I’ve bothered him?

ps to all the great teachers, supervisors, tutors out there, continue to inspire and educate students. I’ve met some amazing teachers and to this day (on a high paying job as a 27 year old) I remain as a humble student and have nothing but respect!

He's probably just busy. Kids are at home still from Easter.
