SW London primary tuition

Hi there,

I’m a (male) primary teacher in SW London with 9 years teaching experience (EYFS & KS1) and am considering doing some 1:1 in-person tuition. Over the past couple of years I have worked as a supply teacher in a variety of reputable private schools both north and south of the river, and am curious to know if there’s a desire for 1:1 tuition for the age range I specialise in?

I know that many people frown upon tuition for EYFS & KS1 children, and I can appreciate the arguments for and against. My own personal philosophy is not to put pressure on children and to make learning as engaging and fun as possible. I’m more interested in filling gaps in learning than prepping children for tests.

Anyway, I’d love to know if there’s a desire among parents for a tutor like me? Any thoughts much appreciated.

Yes definitely - I started tutoring Reception to Year 3 children in September and I'm completely full with a waiting list. I'm in Surrey. I have a few children with additional needs and lots who just need a bit of a confidence boost and help catching up after all the pandemic disruption. I was an EYFS class teacher for 25 years and all those skills are so relevant. Even the older children have gaps with number, place value, phonics and are really benefiting from a hands on, playful approach. It's so rewarding working individually with children and their families. Good luck.
