Dear all,

Could anyone recommend a good tutor with experience of winning places at Eltham College, please? My son George is five years and a half and he goes to reception at a state school at the moment. Ideally, we are looking for a tutor who can teach all subjects (English, math, and reasoning) and help him to prepare for the 7+ exam at Eltham College. Thanks very much!

Good lord.

@GeorgeMumJin - as no one has responded, jumping here though it isn't tutoring advice. DS went to a state school and passed 7+ at Eltham College with no tutoring. Not advising for or against but wanted to give comfort that it may not be needed. DS is engaged at school usually and we did use mix of Bond & CGP books for 6-8 weeks over weekends.

Dear SeMom, thanks so much for sharing your experiences! I haven't found any appropriate tutor for George so far. It's reassuring to know that tutoring is not essential!

Hello,
I have used a local tutor in the midlands who I've sent all my four kids to over the years and they absolutely love her. My youngest is now about to take her 11+ and my eldest has passed his ALevels and theyve all been tutored by her. She's an aerospace engineer and works with local schools so she knows how to relate to kids. I think her number is on her facebook page maybe get in touch that way? www.facebook.com/MSAcademyUK/

@mummieoffour Many thanks for your recommendation! I will have a look at the tutor's profile.

Hiya. I'm a secondary school teacher who has taught in both primary and secondary schools independent and state for 11 years, 6 of which as head of dept in two subject specialisms. I've been conducting lessons for tuition if grammar and independent schools as well as SATs for 13 years and I would be happy to send you some free advice. I could also teach lessons online if that would help while you bridge the gap. I have 3 students currently taking their 11+ in a few weeks and have 4 on roll for next year. I don't ever take on more than 6 because I believe they all need my time to plan.

Please do get in touch I have a wealth of material and advice if you would be interested. Hope you find someone super soon.
Kind regards Sian

Hi could I get some advice from you please. My son is 6 and would like to try 7+ entrance for Eltham college but don’t know any recommended tutor and not sure how best to prepare him. He’s now at an independent school and is quite good at reading but not so good in maths and comprehension. Would be great if you could share your advice and experience. Many thanks.

Hi there :)

I'm not so sure about tutors, but I know this website has some good materials.
