Hello,
I'm looking at a gcse subject tutor fo my dd. Has anyone got experience of online tuition? Just wondering whether it could be a good option or if one to one tuition is better?
Thanks

i would say one-to-one is better personally, especially for GCSE. My dd found it easier to concentrate when the tutor was actually there.

As a sociable person I found group study sessions were the best. I sat there quietly and quickly making mindmaps and pictures etc which helped me revise effectively. Other people preferred the auditory way to learn. It’s all about what works best for you personally though. At GCSE I suggest a independent individualist approach to revision especially if you are easily distracted by external factors. There are lots of tutoring companies out there. Have a good look online and see which one you prefer to use. Or you could always ask other parents for recommendations.

We live overseas and use online tuition with UK based tutors. It is fantastic because the kids dont have to get up and out, with teenagers this is good. If you want a good company pm me

Hi - I do both in-person and online tuition. I think it very much depends on the student. I've had some who struggle with online, but I've also had some who struggle more with in-person. Sometimes the journey to the lesson and then being in a new location can actually distract students. In addition, there are some fantastic online learning tools. Obviously, it is more difficult to direct students using online means. However, I think online is often under-rated and can be all round more convenient for everyone; like I said at the beginning though, depends on the student. Hope that helps!
