HELP - Trouble with Microscooter purchased from Microscooter.org.uk [angry]

Has anybody else had trouble dealing with Microscooter.org.uk, www.microscooter.org.uk/ ?

We purchased a micro scooter from them, www.Microscooter.org.uk , that clearly has a saftey issue with it, the handlebar does not fix securely onto the scooter platform, and when being used the front wheel can move at right angles to the steering. This company, www.Microscooter.org.uk has advoided any attempts to resolve this issue for us. Their final words were - "we dont deal with warranties, we arent prepared to pick the scooter up, if you purchased something from asda, would you expect asda to pick what you have bought up and return it to you, you have to return it to the shop."

Maybe i wouldn't expect Asda to pick it up, but i would make sure i didn't purchase anything else from them again. I'm also very tempted to report them, www.Microscooter.org.uk to trading standards, because of the potential saftey issue, and the fact that my 'sales contract is with them, www.microscooter.org.uk , and noone else. Would i go to the farmer that sold my apple to Asda if i had a problem with the apple!

Can anybody suggest how to get this problem resolved, so my daughter can use the scooter safely. It was suggested to try and wrap tape around the bottom of the handlebar and try to tighten the grip, but it just doesn't sound very safe.

And if you are thinking about buying a scooter from [http://www.Microscooter.org.uk]] , DON'T because the aftercare/customer service support is terrible.

Could anybody recommend a better shop to buy a scooter from, one where customer service is seen as a key to ensure repeat sales?

Try calling consumer action direct

You should inform the company that the goods are faulty and return them by registered post
Then they should refund your money plus the shipping cost

What does all the bumph that came with the scooter say? Is there not a direct manufacturer?

the contract is with the trader so the faulty goods should be returned to them

I was just going with the easiest option rather than who should deal with it.

The site has no privacy policy and no t&c as far as I can see, which I think you can report them for. No idea who to, but still...

I have it in my head that they should have a proper physical address written on there somewhere too...

since "www.microscooter.org.uk uses paypal as its online payment facility" can you not raise a PayPal dispute or is that only applicable to Ebay purchases?

that realyl doesn't look like a proper business at all. I have a suspicion it is a private seller who has set up a website. I can't find anythign at companies house by the name micrscooters.org.

also, if they aren't selling in the course of business, your legal recourse is going to be a bit shaky.

I would be careful about starting a "hate campaign" about Micro Scooters - this is the official website www.micro-scooters.co.uk with terms and conditions etc etc.

Unfortunately it looks like the site you used may be less than reputable. Having said that, if you have a problem with an actual Micro Scooter product then I would go direct to the manufacturer to sort it out.

I second what Jellie has said, take care that you don't accidentally blame the wrong company when you take this forward.
By all accounts its looks like you have a genuine reason for a full refund or repair.
If they refuse to help, I would contact the manufacturers directly. I have done this recently with a faulty pair of sneakers purchased in America on holiday and the company headquarters in UK where more than helpful.

looks like Chops is correct - private individual.

Also, he shouldn't be trading using a .org.uk address. also hiding you address is not correct - you could also get onto nominet to complain. They also may release the address to you

Many thanks for the help and support. I did check with ebay, but unless you make a claim in less than 45 days after purchase they can't help, and we hadn't used the scooter for a while and the fault didn't come to light straight away.

It looks like my best option is to contact the manufacter direct. As the amount of money is small, i'm not sure it's worth the effort of small claims and trying to hassle the seller into paying me back. I'm just not going to buy anything else from them, which given that i have two young daughters they are likely to lose far more money from me buying elsewhere that if they had simply applied some decent customer service.
