What did your one year olds love?

Our twin boys are coming up to their first birthday and we’ve been asked what they want. I’ve got no clue!
They have a Toniebox so we are asking for new tonies. Otherwise that’s all we’ve thought of. It’ll be cold soon so we’re not really thinking of outdoor toys but will definitely consider them.

Cars/trains for playing with, cars for riding on (indoors or out), things that aren't cars but make obnoxious amounts of noise (e.g. toy piano, we have a singing/moving rabbit that he likes to put on higher surfaces and watch it fall off...). My 18 month old been exposed to a wide variety of toys, but he's a 'car kid' through and through! In particular, we got a £20-30ish indoor car he can ride on, and it gets daily use.

It's also a good time to expand your book collection, people love to buy books for kids. Might just be my kid, but he likes the books with moving parts, and (surprise!) books showing buses/ cars.

My daughter had a ride on bike thing for her first birthday, she’s 2.5y now and still rides it around the house. It was a very successful present!

Stacking cups and ride ons

We didnt own all of these, but:

little tikes cracy coupe
scuttlebug
toy kitchen (was chatting with other parents just this week about how our 2 year olds play with their toy kitchens every day)
water play table
sand play table
fisher price record player
shape sorter

There were a couple of certain sorting blocks that she loved. The kind where you fit the shapes in the holes

And yes stacking cups (you can also use them in the bath)

Early learning centre (via the entertainer) have a wooden tool bench that's been a hit with friends' one year olds. Tonies are good, but actual books are brilliant - the Scanimation books or books with textural elements are great for one year olds.

Animals, a type of play farm. Cars and a garage. Pop up books.

Play food with a little shopping bag/ picnic rug, loads of fun.
Anything to push or drag around.
One of those big soft footballs from ikea for indoors.
Happyland toys are excellent and last for ages with great play value, we had the farm, the house, the zoo etc.

My one year old loved these and they were played with for years. We got little bowls for sorting but they were used for all sorts - biscuits, money, stirring in a pan, posting in a money box. I actually still have them in my nursery class and it's my son's 11th birthday next week!

No to toot toot! Bloody annoying as hell. A wooden kitchen and play food is always a winner and you can get some lovely sets of food now. I'm a bit jealous mine are too old now!
