Hello mumsnetters. My one year old is VERY attached to "Mou Mou" aka a soft toy mouse from JoJo Maman Bebe branded as Mia the Mouse. Photo attached.

She takes her to nursery and carries her round everywhere. Whenever she goes into the washing machine she asks for her the whole time.

So...I am worried about Mou Mou getting lost and not having a back up! I have tried to buy her again online and she's sold out. Can anyone help me find a back up Mou Mou!? I've tried Vinted, eBay etc...

Any ideas of where to look, or anyone who may have this mouse lying around which I could buy off you!?

Thank you in advance team MN 🙏🏼

Oh actually I have just realised her dress is different. Do you think that would matter? Could you say she's had an outfit change?

Just a warning that we did this and DS was not fooled! He called the one he took to nursery and granny's "bad octopus".

Kuretake · 17/05/2025 10:49

He did deign to take bad octopus to nursery at least but was always relieved to get back to real octopus at home. Sometimes bad octopus got called granny octopus as he took him to granny's one day a week.

@PickleJellythank you so much, yes I saw this mouse but unsure about the dress! £19 is a lot of money if it doesn't work but might be the best option if can't find the original! Thank you 🙏🏼

Oh my gosh thank you for the warning. How do they know!? "Bad octopus" is really making me chuckle.

I suspect poor bad octopus didn't smell right!

I feel your anguish. DD’s rabbit has been rescued multiple times! She’s an adult now and took rabbit as hand luggage everywhere, living abroad and yes the rabbit went to.

My daughter had a special blanket and I had the same fear as you.
It was no longer available to buy as it was last seasons stock.
The blanket was originally £20. I went on to eBay and purchased a few second hand ones ranging from £40-£60. I can’t say I was very pleased, but I also do not regret it.
She is now 9 years old, has two left, she sleeps with them and cherishes them.

Have you tried contacting JoJo? They have an outlet shop in Wales so may have one in there? Failing that they might still be able to help. My daughter modelled in their catalog when she was little and honestly I was so impressed by the company.

Now reduced to £8, but unavailable. I suppose it is £8 everywhere when it is unavailable.

It does say the clothes are detachable - so you could take the dress off the new mouse and put it on the old one so she gets used to it changing outfits. Swapping the old dress onto the new mouse and introducing the new mouse as a sort of timeshare might also help the new mouse become accepted (and a little worn) and avoid the "bad octopus" scenario.
Still leaves the ears - maybe cover both sets of ears in the same fabric? Possibly I am overthinking this!

SnoopyPajamas · 18/05/2025 15:11

Do you plan to keep the back-up Mia hidden away until she makes her heroic debut? Or introduce her gradually, swapping the imposter mouse in and out of a double life as a secret twin? 🤔

There's a Facebook group called 'Little Blue Cup' which helps people finds dupes of irreplaceable items. Perhaps try there!
