I find myself slowly accumulate with the toys my son plays with for a minute and then he gets disinterested.

I'd like to buy him some open ended toys.

He is 1. What are open ended toys are actually worth buying?

Magnatiles are great, you can start with a small set and build up, my youngest is 4 and loves hers. Chunky Lego blocks are also a hit and books, lots of hardback books.

Another vote for wooden blocks. They get so much use and until surprisingly old. We have a kids corner at my church and every week even though there are loads of different things there the wooden blocks come out and the 10 year olds are using them as much as the babies!

I've recently discovered Tor's Story, they have so many open ended toys which my little ones are obsessed with! The permeability cubes and building blocks are fab. torsstory.com

Also the IKEA kitchen is always a winner, I swapped out the fake tap for a functional one, my two year old loves it xx

We have animals placed all over our house every day, they build with blocks, we have kapla and a castle set and lots of Grimms, the magnatiles, duplo and Lego, small parts play, the toy kitchen and the dollhouse. The road and train sets come out periodically.
