I found an old thread on MumsNet on Saturday when trying to figure out how to drain all the water from about 50 HappyLand people, animals and market stall food and flower displays, after buying them secondhand for my GrandDaughter (I'm a GrandPa!!) and washing them in the dishwasher and then discovering each of them had lots of water inside, which was NOT keen on coming out!!!!
The MN advice set me on the road to searching for the definitive answer, including speaking to ELC/the Entertainer people, but I didn't find anything that really worked on getting ALL the water out, although I did find out by trial and error that shaking the figues did get some drops of water out, but not all. Having tried leaving them in the airing cupboard for ages etc without success, I thought about maybe putting then in the tumble drier, in the mesh bags I'd used to put them in the dishwasher, on the basis that the combination of automated shaking and a bit of heat MIGHT do the trick :)
I tested on 2 figures, to limit damage if the TDing didn't work and worst case damaged them and gave them 20 minutes at standard Bosch drying heat. On opening the (pretty cool temp) TD door the first thing I noticed was that the mesh bag was damp/wet and then on shaking the figures there was ABSOLUTELY NO water in either of them!! I repeated this straight away with about 30 figures in a mesh bag for 20 minutes and ALL came out TOTALLY dry AND with no scratches or scrapes!!!! HOORAY!!! All dry and ready to be handed over!!!!
So it definitely worked fine in a Bosch TD, but test with one or 2 least fave figures first in your TD to be on the safe side!!!
I now can't wait to see my GrandDaughter's face when she sees all the little folks, animals, buildings and vehicles for the first time!!!
