Toys for 1.5y DS who loves anything mechanical?

My LO is 18mths and loves anything mechanical, e.g. airplane seat buckle, the harness on his pushchair, literally any buckle, zips on hoodies, locks on doors, etc. We already have duplos and a play kitchen, but those don't really hold his attention. He's also not quite ready for crayons/drawing so we're looking for other ideas.

Any suggestions for age appropriate toys for him?

More on the drawing side, but we had a mat and water pens like this kind of thing: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9193729?clickSR=slp:term:aqua%20magic%20mat:1:17:1

I'd be tempted to go to a car boot, buy a collection of fasteners and sew them onto ribbons or something.

There is also this dressing practice toy:

Not sure if he's too young but my daughter loved the

Melissa & Doug Wooden Latches Board and the house with keys.

He's probably a little young for the house at the mo.

Thank you all! These are some great ideas, I'll definitely look into them. They might save the Duplos that my LO is currently building and destroying in our living room 😂
