Toys for 1.5y DS who loves anything mechanical?

My LO is 18mths and loves anything mechanical, e.g. airplane seat buckle, the harness on his pushchair, literally any buckle, zips on hoodies, locks on doors, etc. We already have duplos and a play kitchen, but those don't really hold his attention. He's also not quite ready for crayons/drawing so we're looking for other ideas.

Any suggestions for age appropriate toys for him?

I'd be tempted to go to a car boot, buy a collection of fasteners and sew them onto ribbons or something.

Mine was (and still is) exactly the same, but we didn't really find mechanical toys for that age, he just played with anything safe around the house. I remember he loved clips. Also very into wheels and building blocks, so a Brio train set went down well and is still played with age 4. And lift the flap books - he's always liked toys that DO things, action and reaction.

Thank you all! These are some great ideas, I'll definitely look into them. They might save the Duplos that my LO is currently building and destroying in our living room 😂
