What to put in the garden for the DCs

We've just had our garden sorted and a new lawn area laid. It's not massive but there's room for either a decent climbing frame, or a trampoline, not both. I can see the merits of each but can't decide what we will get most use of. What do you have in your garden? Ive seen a few hybrid type systems which look good. What other toys have been well used in your garden? Never realy had a decent outdoor space until now

(DCs are 8 and 3)

If you get a trampoline you can say goodbye to your new lawn if you dont have the space to move it regularly, Id go with a climbing frame.

I mean a trampoline isn't great aesthetically or for your lawn BUT its the thing we've bought that's been most used over the years and our youngest still uses it now (12).

Following as I am trying to decide between climbing frame, swings and trampoline

SkankingWombat · 15/03/2023 16:21

We have a climbing dome, which gets lots of use. I couldn't face the eyesore of a trampoline nor the squeaking. DCs are 6 & 8yo, and the frame is suitable to 12yo.

We have a climbing frame with a slide and swings. My kids are 5 & 3 and it should last them the next 10 years, they can play on it together and with friends when they have play dates.

Im not keen on having a trampoline from a safety perspective, and for the arguments about whose turn/how long etc.

Bronzeisthecolour · 15/03/2023 16:53

We have both, dc now 6 & 9. The trampoline is used all the time a d has been for years, climbing frame not used that much now. I'd go trampoline definitely.

Thank you so much! Which trampolines do you have? My neighbour got one that literally looks threadbare and its only about two years old ,like the bungee cords are frayed and the foam around the poles is splitting

I'm not keen on a trampoline from a safety aspect. I have a climbing frame and swings. Kids still enjoy the swings most.

Climbing frame. We had a trampoline for a year, after the first few weeks it didn’t get used except on playdates. Climbing frame is still used all the time (girls 8 and 10), sometimes for climbing, sometimes for imaginary games, sometimes chatting to neighbours’ kids who stand on their climbing frame…

Also looks far less ugly

Trampoline - gets way more use than a climbing frame IMO. Appeals to a wider variety of ages...
